Check out episode 45 of Yo Quiero Dinero, personal finance podcast for the modern Latina. Available wherever you listen to podcasts!
Episode 45 features, Anna N’Jie-Konte, Certified Financial Planner and the founder of Dare to Dream Financial Planning: a fee-only, virtual financial planning firm that serves the needs of 30 & 40-something year old women of color who want to live boldly and make a lasting impact on their family tree. Anna is a passionate believer in the empowerment of women and minorities in America.
Anna is also the host of the First-Gen Realness podcast. There, she engages in conversations with her fellow first-generation Americans in order to reinforce their value and immense contributions to the fabric of America. By fostering a sense of community, she hopes to remind her peers that they matter, their stories are important and are not alone in attempting to navigate multiple cultures with grace.
Anna is an Afro-Latina, native New Yorker. She’s a lover of everything related to food, the Gambia, Latino history, West African culture, and literature. When Anna doesn’t have her head buried in a spreadsheet, you can find her working out, re-reading literary classics, hanging with her husband and three daughters, or dreaming about her next adventure.
In episode 45, Anna and I talk about:
- The ebb and flow of our money management behaviors, aka bouncing in and out of debt,
- Guilt around being the first in our family to build wealth—a guilt that’s common in first generation, immigrant families
- Horror stories of being in predominantly White spaces
- How she approaches her work of being a CFP for women of color
I’m excited for you all to hear this episode and be introduced to Anna. I’ve received so many questions around CFP recommendations, and I can finally give you one!
